Ameela Li Named WCC Player of the Week

Ameela Li earned her second career West Coast Conference Player of the Week honor after her performance against San Diego and Portland this past weekend. The junior captain dropped 15 points in the win at San Diego and scored a career-high 20 points in the rout of the Pilots, for her 15th game this season in double-figure scoring.

On the week, Li averaged 17.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 6.0 assists. She shot 76.5 percent from the field going 13-17 including 8-9 against Portland. Li was 3-of-6 from three-point range and 6-of-7 from the line.

In the Tigers’ win at San Diego, Li played the entire 40 minutes going 5-of-8 from the field and dished out five dimes and grabbed five boards. This season, Li is averaging 35.7 minutes in conference play, the second most in the WCC. Li had a career game in the win against Portland, dropping 20 points and adding seven assists.

Since the start of conference play, Li ranks 12th in the WCC in points per game with 12.7, second in assists per game with 5.3, and second in free throw percentage at 91.7 percent.

The Pacific women’s basketball team spends the next two West Coast Conference matchups on the road, heading to Malibu to face the Pepperdine Waves Thursday evening at 7 p.m. The Orange and Black then travel to Moraga for a rematch with the Saint Mary’s Gaels for a Saturday matinee slated for 2 p.m.
