TUBBS AND EDWARDS NAMED TO 2022 WCC VOLLEYBALL PRESEASON TEAM

After leading the Pacific volleyball team to a fourth-place finish in the conference standings a season ago, graduate student Jadyn Tubbs and junior Alexa Edwards have been selected to the 2022 West Coast Conference Preseason Team.

“Jadyn and Alexa are captains and leaders to the rest of the team,” Head Coach Greg Gibbons stated. “Both of them try to help the team get better every day as we continue to build a successful culture.”

Tubbs led the conference in multiple statistical categories throughout the 2021 season and earned her first-ever First Team All-WCC selection. The graduate student from Turlock, Calif., led the conference with 470 digs and averaged 4.39 digs per set, ranking first among all liberos. The reigning WCC Libero of the Year ranks fourth all-time in program history in digs, tallying 1,540 career digs in four seasons of competition.

Edwards led the team offensively, ranking first on the team in kills and kills per set. The First Team All-WCC Selection from a season ago ranked second in the conference in kills, tallying a career-high 370 while averaging 3.71 kills per set. The junior from Sacramento, Calif., recorded a season-high 27 kills and 18 digs against Sacramento State on September 10, two assists against Santa Clara on October 21, and five total blocks against Pepperdine on October 7.

Tubbs and Edwards highlight a team that returns 10 members from last season’s roster that has been selected to finish sixth according to the 2022 WCC Preseason Coaches Poll. The Tigers received 42 points as BYU (79), San Diego (73), Pepperdine (67), Loyola Marymount (55), and Santa Clara (45) round out the top five.
