PAF Scholarship Fund Announces a 45% Increase

PAF-favconFor the current 2013-14 academic year, the PAF Scholarship Fund is proud to announce it has successfully raised $374,500 in total cash, a 45% increase from last year’s cash total of $258,000.

“I would like to say thank you to the PAF Board, Fund Drive Workers, and staff for their hard work. With the move to the West Coast Conference it was essential for us to raise more cash in support of our student-athlete scholarship fund and we were able to do that,” said Ted Leland, Vice President for External Relations and Athletics.

Two years ago, as part of the Athletic Department’s five-year strategic plan, the athletics annual fund was reorganized and relaunched as the PAF in hopes of generating new energy. Some of the changes included a return to the original name of the fundraising organization that was initially founded in 1970 as the Pacific Athletic Foundation, as well as the introduction of a new logo, modified giving structure and donor benefits package. Since making the changes, the PAF has increased from $144,000 cash in 2011 to $374,500 this year, which is a 160% increase.

“This was another fantastic year for the PAF that could not have been accomplished without our great Fund Drive Workers. We have dedicated volunteers helping us in the community who have certainly made an impact. The changes we made two years ago jumpstarted the energy and it has taken off with our move to the West Coast Conference. It is a great time to be a PAF member,” said Chris Lynn, Assistant Athletic Director for Annual Giving.

The PAF currently has 47 Volunteer Fund Drive Workers and they are looking to grow that number to 60 volunteers before the kick-off of next year’s PAF Fund Drive on April 21, 2014. Volunteer Fund Drive Workers compete for a variety of prizes and incentives including the grand prize of an all-expense paid trip for two to Las Vegas for the 2015 West Coast Conference (WCC) Basketball Tournament.
