PAF Partners With Save Mart For S.H.A.R.E.S. Program For the Fourth Year in a Row

Stockton, Calif. – A partnership between Pacific Athletics and Save Mart has turned into an impactful asset for the Pacific Athletic Foundation (PAF).

The PAF partnership with Save Mart was established in 2010 with the distribution of S.H.A.R.E.S.* rewards cards to Pacific boosters and alumni in San Joaquin County.  These rewards cards are free and can be used at any participating Save Mart stores including S-Mart, Lucky and FoodMaxx in Northern California.  The program is easy – you basically pick out your groceries as usual and then swipe the S.H.A.R.E.S. card at the checkout counter.  From there, 3% of your qualified purchases come back to the PAF Student-Athlete Scholarship Fund.

Since the partnership began in 2010, the program has generated approximately $22,000 for the PAF.  Last year, the PAF collected $8,850 from the program.  New cards will be mailed to Pacific Athletics season ticket holders and donors later this month.

“I am thrilled about this partnership between Pacific Athletics and Save Mart,” said Pacific’s Vice President for External Relations and Director of Athletics, Dr. Ted Leland. “The program has made a tremendous impact for the PAF.  The revenue we receive from Save Mart helps to support student-athlete scholarships as well as the PAF Impact Fund that enhances the Pacific student-athlete experience.”

“It is a simple way to give back to the Athletic Department during your trips to the grocery store, said Chris Lynn, Executive Director of the PAF.  People sometimes ask me if it really makes a difference to use it and the answer is yes.  Any additional revenue stream helps support our student-athletes.”

If you would like to receive a S.H.A.R.E.S. card or order additional cards for family and friends, please contact the PAF Office at paf@pacific.edu or (209) 946-2387.

* S.H.A.R.E.S. is an acronym for “Supporting Humanities, Arts, Recreation, Education and Sports.”
