ADAMS AND WOZNIAK NAMED WCC COACHES OF THE YEAR

The Tigers finished their best season in 12 years last week with two interim head coaches, Danesha Adams and J.J Wozniak leading the team. Athletic Director Janet Lucas removed the interim tag on Tuesday. The WCC coaches recognized Adams and Wozniak today, naming them the WCC Coaches of the Year.

Adams and Wozniak engineered a nine-game improvement from the 2021 spring season, capturing 10 victories overall this fall. The Tigers, who compiled an 8-1-1 record and boasted a seven-match winning streak in non-conference play, posted nine shutouts on the year. Under Adams and Wozniak, Pacific saw three members earn All-WCC recognition, highlighted by the WCC Goalkeeper of the Year, Brenna Crump.

“Needless to say, this announcement that we have been recognized as the West Coast Conference Coaches of the Year is completely unexpected and has us both still trying to put it all in perspective,” said Co-Head Coaches J.J Wozniak and Danesha Adams. “There are so many things that we want to say and so many people we want to thank but first and foremost, we want to say Congratulations and shout out a massive thank you to our players for all of their hard work, commitment, and determination to put our UOP Women’s Soccer program in the conversation as a quality team and a formidable foe in the WCC.  Our players deserve so much of the credit, and we truly hope they know that this award is a direct reflection of all the amazing things they are doing day in, day out and our conference has taken note.”

“We are so thankful to have been provided the opportunity to take over this program right before preseason and to make a difference for UOP women’s soccer and collectively, we have poured our heart and soul into this,” said the Co-Head Coaches. “This conference is so demanding and challenging, both players and coaches alike must bring their “A” game every match to have a chance to earn the result and we truly believe that is what we did this season.  We are humbled to be honored by the group of phenomenal coaches and staffs that are in the WCC.  It’s truly challenging to sum it all up properly but the list of coaches in this conference and all they have accomplished throughout their careers is historic and for us to be recognized by them is something both of us will appreciate forever!”
